The sun sets the phase of our inner clock. It is why we wake when it rises, and why the last hour of light matters as much as the first. A bedroom with no daylight gives the body nothing to work with.
A daylight environment and cycle helps balance our physiology with the different phases of the day. Better performance in the morning, better sleep at night. Bright light early lowers melatonin and lifts cortisol, which is what waking up actually is, and warm low light in the evening lets the reverse happen. A room running one fixed colour temperature from morning to midnight is working against that. In a bedroom with no window, there is nothing at all to correct it.
